Biography - Elaine White
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. So that makes me that rare creature, a true native Phoenician. I’ve seen Phoenix grow from a “cowtown” to one of the fastest growing cities in America. And along with that growth, I’ve seen the city’s “growing pains.” Yet Phoenix is a city of beautiful desert landscapes and opportunity.
With hopes of becoming a high school English teacher, I received my college education at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. After graduation, I got sidetracked from my teaching plans and became a federal government employee with Indian Health Service, an agency of the U. S. Public Health Service, Department of Health and Human Services.
While gaining extensive experience as a Library Technician in the Phoenix Indian Medical Center Library, I have seen firsthand the many advances in information technology. I’ve also gained knowledge from learning medical terminology, working daily within a hospital setting, and becoming a member of the city, state, and national medical library network. My daily interaction dealing directly with the doctors, nurses, and all the allied healthcare professionals also contributed to my continued education. |
Providing medical literature searches and obtaining selected medical journal articles was a daily task which allowed me to become a part of a patient’s healing process. I never forgot that the search results and articles I provided would ultimately influence the quality of care received by our patients.
My extensive experience working as a medical library technician has accrued a skill bank which I’ve been able to transfer to doing searches on job opportunities for the candidates being assisted by Integrity Health Professionals Career Developers. I always realize that the information I provide to Integrity’s Recruiters and current/future recruiting firm partners is crucial to the success of all. |
